The Government of Mexico City is designing a new proposal in the strategy for the search for missing persons. To this end, the Cabinet for the Search of Missing Persons has been established in the capital of the country, with the priority of making the search for the missing a key institutional mission.

Clara Brugada, Head of Government of Mexico City, emphasized the relevance of this Cabinet by stating that its purpose is to provide meaningful efforts and results to the families of the missing. Accompanied by municipal leaders, government officials, and representatives of search collectives, Brugada Molina assured that collaboration between institutions and civil society will be fundamental in this initiative.

Additionally, it was reported that this Cabinet will work in close coordination with the federal government, being able to summon entities such as the Secretary of the Navy, the National Defense, and neighboring local governments to Mexico City. The new strategy to strengthen the mechanisms for searching for missing persons is expected to be ready by April, according to Brugada Molina.

On the other hand, representatives of missing persons locating collectives expressed their support for this work, highlighting the importance of civil society's trust in this new effort. Bertha María Alcalde, Attorney General of Mexico City, indicated that the Cabinet will strengthen the coordination among the institutions involved in this task, with a quick and effective response to disappearances being crucial.

Alcalde Luján also emphasized the need to strengthen the identification mechanisms for deceased persons in the capital to ensure dignified deliveries to their families. In summary, the establishment of this Cabinet seeks to guarantee respect for the right to search for the missing and to not forget those who are absent.
